WMHS is a fully accredited school by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and has been commended for its academic achievements, athletic talent, student involvement, and community support. WMHS LEAP scores are among the highest in the state, and the school offers over thirty organizations and fifteen athletic teams in which students may participate. School NewsWest Monroe High School Recognized for Yearbook Excellence The West Monroe High School yearbook staff has been recognized by Taylor Publishing with an Award of Excellence honoring its achievements in yearbook design and coverage. The West Monroe High School yearbook is featured in the 2008 "Yearbook Yearbook". Judges selected the West Monroe High School yearbook, Rebelaire, among the best. The yearbook adviser is Mrs. Tammy Binns, and the 2007 editor is Angela Groce, WMHS alumnus. Other staff members include Ryne Haynie, Mallory Bernice, and Lauren Ogles. "The Award of Excellence is given each year to a small percentage of yearbook staff nationwide that demonstrate excellence in yearbook," marketing manager Mike Taylor said. "We applaud these staffs for their outstanding work and support their efforts in scholastic journalism." This marks the third consecutive year the West Monroe High School yearbook has been featured in "Yearbook Yearbook". Congratulations to Constance Brown, who was named West Monroe High School Student of the Year! In addition to this prestigious honor, she was named Regional High School Student of the Year for the Ouachita Parish School System. Constance will go on to compete for the Louisiana Student of the Year. The faculty, administration, and student body at West Monroe High School wish Constance good luck in her competition for this award.
Congratulations to Mr. and Miss West Monroe High School, Jana Benson and Shelby Aulds! In addition to the many extracurricular activities these students are involved in as well as the leadership they exhibit both on and off campus, they possess the model character it takes to warrant this prestigious honor. Their fellow classmates honored Shelby and Jana for their studious ambitions, leadership roles, friendliness, and respectful natures.
