Assisstant Principal - Mr. Dewayne Lathan

Mr. Lathan has been with WMHS for nearly seven years now. His first reaction, after being told he was to be a part of the WMHS administration, was a feeling of excitement and pride that he had been chosen to be a part of a great school with great traditions in academics as well as in athletics. He was in great anticipation of the things he would see and experience at WMHS. Mr. Lathan was not a former WMHS graduate. However, he did graduate in 1980 from Chatham High School. Mr. Lathan feels as though WMHS has a very well-behaved student body that is very polite and proud of their school and community. He also feels that the best part of his job is working with very professional and friendly teachers and administrative staff. He feels like the comradery among the administrators is very special and doesn't believe other places have this.

Mr. Lathan formerly attended Northwestern State University, La. Tech and ULM. He attended undergraduate school for four years and graduate school for two years. He was also assistant principal at Jonesboro Hodge Middle School. If Mr. Lathan could teach at WMHS, he would be a science teacher. Mr. Lathan's dream job would be to be a doctor.

Advice : Students, take advantage of everything the school has to offer. The reputation of the school doesn't rest on the performance of the coaches, teachers, or administrators: it rests on you, the student. You have worked too hard to get to this point: don't let anthing take it away.
