Mr. Lane is entering his twentieth year as an educator and his seventh year at West Monroe High School. Mr. Lane is responsible for the attendance and discipline of approximately one quarter of our students, (those students with last names beginning with L through R) Mr. Lane also provides leadership in the areas of construction, safety and security, teacher assessment, and extracurricular events. Mr. Lane is particularly thankful for the new facilities the taxpayers and the school board have bestowed on West Monroe High School and considers his involvement in the planning of these multi-million dollar improvements a very valuable experience. Mr. Lane is especially thankful for the community donations and labor that constructed the Memorial Garden that honors deceased alumni including former staff and graduates killed in action in Iraq and Vietnam. Mr. Lane’s favorite tradition is when the Boogie Band and the Drum Corp march down the halls saying that: “It makes my hair stand up!”

Mr. Lane joined the WMHS administration bringing valuable experience from neighboring Richland Parish where had served as principal of Rayville Junior High School for five years and two previous years as Assistant Principal. During those seven years at RJH, Mr. Lane led a 30% improvement in the school performance score as well as dramatic improvements in school discipline, the founding of the PTA, and planning of the beautiful Richland Arts Center. During his tenure enrollment also increased substantially due to many improvements.

When asked why he left such a successful situation, Mr. Lane stated that he wanted to be a part of a great high school program like West Monroe and learn how it functioned, remained strong, and what ingredients combined two make such a renowned academic and athletic program. What has he found to the answer? He says: “Great people, a strong community that supports their school 100% and a sense of competitive pride and excellence in all aspects of the school program.” When asked if there was anything else he discovered since arriving at West Monroe he smiled and said: “Yeah, I was set up on a blind date by some friends and coworkers shortly after coming to West Monroe. My date turned out later to be my wife! That’s a pretty big discovery! The Lord has really blessed me since coming to West Monroe.” Mr. Lane is married to Mrs. Jennifer Worley Lane (Class of 87) and they are the proud parents of Daniel and Isaac.
